Using Partial Dictation (eScription) with Connect Care

Note: Partial (hybrid) dictation workflow supports are removed from Connect Care as of first quarter 2021 and so the following posting is no longer valid (but retained below for archival purposes).

Physicians familiar with the Alberta Health Services provincial eScription dictation service may continue to use it while transitioning to Connect Care’s in-system dictation. eScription can be used for generating large blocks of text, such as a full consultation note. It is very important to follow a precise workflow so that dictated material gets to the right spot within the Connect Care record of care.

Partial dictation is supported only for clinical document types that were previously supported. Typically, these are admission, discharge, transfer and deceased summaries as well as consultation and procedure notes. eScription (either partial or full) cannot be used for progress notes, which are generated with text automations (SmartTools) or in-system dictation (Dragon Medical One) or just text.
